"Off to the races!"


I believe this is Ringling Bros. Circus in the 1910's, Dan Draper could tell us.
Rider in the center is Spader Johnson and on the right Bob Stickney Jr.

I'm assuming that this is right before Spader began his career as a clown, right?

I thought about that for a while and then remembered on the Cole Show most clowns removed their makeup between shows (Otto was the wrestling match referee in the after show).
If Johnson had a "Generally Useful" contract, he could have appeared as pictured in time for the races.

started with Ringling Bros. around this time by the
name Bill Lorenz from Bavaria ? He was mine and
Johns' great, great(great ?) uncle. thanks!!
