Message from a Circus Fan

Received an Email from Paul and Diane Gutheil...

For a number of years at Thanksgiving time I have put a message in Backyard
and, when I could afford it, Circus Report to let show folks know how "a
couple of fans" and countless others feel. I'm sure many show folks who
view your blog have not seen our message - could I impose upon you to put
this message of love and thanks on your blog so that people like the
gorgeous Rebecca, whom we've never met or seen perform, know that there are
lots of us out there that feel the way we do?!

I transposed the message but the orginal is here if you want to see or save it.

HAPPY HOLLIDAYS

And Heartfelt Thanks to ALL Showfolks

At this special time of year and all year long,

we want each of you to know that we give thanks

and are grateful for what you do. . .

for all of you who wield a shovel behind the bull line. . .

or groom a horse. . . or clean a cage. . .

or set it up or tear it down. . . or load it or unload it. . .

or design it. . . or sew it. . . or paint it. . . or maintain it. . .

or drive it. . . or deal with endless inspections. . .

the animal rights fanatics, the general public. . .

constantly changing laws and regulations. . .

or if you produce it, direct it or announce it. . .

or put your life at risk each day for our entertainment. . .

or paint your face and wear all kinds of outfits

and contraptions to give us a good laugh. . .

or use or perform live circus music. . .

or practice for endless hours so that you can thrill and

amaze us for but a few wonderful moments. . .

or drive for endless hours through the night

over roads that are often far from ideal. . .

or endure the heat and the cold and all extremes of weather. . .

or those of you who work for and/or with

the preservation of the circus with animals. . .

or constantly search and strive for new and exciting venues

while maintaining the tradition of the American Circus. . .

For all of you who through all of your efforts keep the Circus

alive and well in America, we are truly grateful. . . .

YOU ARE VERY SPECIAL PEOPLE. . .

we need you. . . we thank you, God Bless You. . .

KEEP ON KEEPING ON!!!!

Down the road. . . . . . . . . a couple of fans

Mr. & Mrs. Gutheil your good hearted responce is going to be well received and appreciated by any who have been active in one way or another in the list of possions you credit, the many entities NEEDED to colaborate togeather to make " the DAZZELING AMAZEMENT " happen. " Your " Fine Spirit / Photographic Tallents and Expertise are as much a part of the experience, along with the Will and Abillity to Express Yourself so Kindly, as any fellow comrade could attest.

Thanks Lane! I have always appreciated circus fans because I felt they kept our history for us. Traveling all the time and living in a trailer, it is hard to keep photos for a long time. My husband had a trailer burn and when I was little, my mom rolled our trailer- there go all our photos!
Last year, when all the circus fans came to Kelly Miller, I only saw Buckles and John Herriott as they were leaving. I don't know a lot of you, but I would love to meet you if you come to visit this year.

A very nice piece. I'm glad Buckles is sharing it o9n the Blog. where it can be read by many people are are "with it" and "for it" as Paul Ingrassia says.

In Germany they are called
"Circus Friends", and the term sure applies over here to, they are truly more than "Fans".

Tavana: We were on the Gray show when the trailer rolled, as for photos' I'll check through our albums and see what I can come up with from that time. I know I have a video of all you kids playing in a kiddy pool. Ask yor Dad if he remembers the rigging falling into the seats while we were taking it down.

Paul Gutheil has been taking simply great pictures of circus subjects for years. I love his pic of Tommy and Struppi on Jan/Feb White Tops and later his pic of Tommy doing his thing a long time past when he should be doing it. We all owe Paul and his wife our thanks for keeping this great stuff on film. He sure has mine. Paul Ingrassia
