Who is the elephant and trainer? And where is this?
This is Mike Hackenberger up at his place in Ontario.
Obviously Mike needed to work on his tan, great ivory on this stand up elephant, but why is the tub so far back on the ring, and how did she get up there?
I think that is a HE elephant L J. And it is very hard to get a tan in Canada. I lived there for six months and it was hot for a few hours of the day and cold at night. Wore shorts during the day and a fur coat at night. I would move up there in a min if I could take all my animals with me.

The elephants name is Vance who was originally trained by Smokey Jones and Gary Johnson. He is currently in musth but should be out in a couple of weeks.
See L.J. I knew it was a he. I know my eye sight is not what it used to be, But Thank god I still can tell a male from a female. He is going thru his PMS. I always think of Star Trek and SPOCK when I hear of an elephant doing his thing. SPOCK had his problem too. What would they do in TENN if a couple of the elephants turned up in the family way? There would be a lot of fast talking there. Then again that is what they do best.
What happened to Joyce and Billie from JC's herd? I know they didn't go to Tenn. They will not take a challenging animal. Oh I'm sorry guess you need to know about elephants to do that.
Remember boys and girls that female asian elephants don't carry that heavy ivory, female africans yes but not the asian's. Learn that stuff in Elephant 101.
The last 28 years I have spent with my butt higher than my brain when I'm shoeing horses so I am alittle out of the loop sometimes! I keep hearing about the Tenn people and elephants. Dutchess, enlighten me about these strange people? Or Capt?

As for JC's herd, Nicholas the male that was born to Tunga and Ronnie is still in Quarters along with Gypsy. Tess died in 2004 and Sue died in 2005. Judy was given to Private owner who's name is listed on the USDA report but I forgot to write down in 2004. Joyce and Hattie both died on Circus Vargas of TB in 1997 just a couple days apart. That leaves Debbie and Freida from the Beatty herd that fought with each other, Billie, Misty, Delhi, Lota, Queenie, Liz, Lottie, Minnie,and Ronnie going to the Elephant Sanctuary in Tennessee. Joy, the only African, was given to Carson & Barnes Circus.

Thanks Bob, I quess Billie will be looking to bloody some noses if anyone gets in her range. Billie and I got along quite well when I was around her. Joyce tried me once and then we came to a mutual truce or maybe just borrowed time for me. They say God looks out for drunks and fools and I was probably alittle of both in those days.
I have Jackie listed as being with Cuneo's herd from 1987 to 2000. I don't have any information after that. What year did you see the Sterling & Reid show with this 4 act working? Thanks.

Remember how "SUE" was killed.
I don't know, what did happen to SUE, the elephant that I think went to retirement at the Tenn. santuary?
The State of Tennessee wanted blood test results on every elephant before being allowed to transport them to Tennessee. Sue was tranquilized to some extent so that they could draw blood. While under the sedative, she apparently collapsed. While being given a reversal drug and feeling like she was responding and perhaps getting better, she died while still at the Cuneo farm. Mr. Cuneo's vet was there along with someone from the Elephant Santcuary at the time. It happened and it's a very sad mishap but I won't point a finger of blame at anyone. I wasn't there.

Bob, thank you for that information. It is truly a sad story, and like you, we weren't there, so who knows? Maybe it was just her time to go? Thanks again.
Bob, You don't know the whole story and everyone has their own. I will blame carol buckley for "SUE" to my last breath. Greed makes monsters of a lot of people. "SUE" did not just drop dead. She suffered for days and Hawthorn was not notified until she was dead. I hate this person with a passion and will fight for "SUE" to be remembered as a fisty, healthy, happy elephant until the forced confinement by carol killed her. I won't comment about this place on the blog again. I think my feeling are very well know by hundreds about that place in Tenn and the person running it. carol's hate for JC doen't not come close for my hate for her.
Dan, does S and RB stand ffor Sterling and Reid? If not I am confused.
