Detractors

I was amused by Pete's statement that after 25 years in the business he only had a hand full of people he disliked, particularly because of the volitility of a lot of circus people.
For reasons mostly unclear to me, most of my detractors are women and some to a point of loathing. So much so that when I was awarded my plaque at St. Armands Circle I was concerned when I found out that it lay flat on the ground rather than upright like a tombstone.
This of course in my case increased the likelihood of desecration.
Imagine my surprise when on my last visit I found that my plaque remains as pristine as the day it was installed as compared to others that are almost illedgible. The only explanation I can think of is that the bitter bile and venom must eat away all the salt water deposit and residue.

Yes it is pristine and in what I would say the most preferable location on the circle. One could say ; " what a lucky man ! " - I would say ; " Hea - he sure earned it ! " ( by no meanes excluding the lovely, tallented and dynamic " Barbara woodcock " ! )

There are a lot of elephant acts out there. Have been and always will be. Elephants acts are pretty much the same as far as their tricks go. Amazing on its own, There are a lot of women working the elephants. Beautiful one and all. BUT there never has been and never will be another BARBARA WOODCOCK. She put Buckles and the family on the map. There are a lot of pictures of her with every celeberty known but few words writen about her. Her family was circus from way back. Would Buckles be where he is today without BARBARA? He also worships the water she walks on.

I get this feeling that I was just insulted but it goes to prove that my "Detractors" story above is correct.

No way would I or could I insult you , You Doll. This shows how intelligent you were at such a young age to capture Barbara. You knew a good thing when you saw it. I did not mean to hurt you feelings if thats what I did. Barbara can not help it if she is prettier then you. And can climb an elephant better then anyone. Did you ever try to do some of these stunts? Face it no one could do it with such style and grace as she does.

You are the only elephant trainer who appears in the ring looking so natural and at ease. As I watch some of the tapes I never see you raise your hand without style. Your body seems to move with the grace and step with the elephants. The Sullivan tape shows you with a gentleier touch than Barbara. You look the PRINCE. I also notice how as much and as fast as the elephants work, you seem to float amoung them. Completly at ease.

I do hope some of the group that are off visiting the shows hurry back. I seem to be stepping in IT here by myself. I also need my dirty joke fix for the day. My e-mail in box is just full of someone trying to sell me a little blue pill, loaning me money and giving me a free bank account.

If you click on ARCHIVES in the left column and then click on MARCH, you will see pictures of the Sanctuary in Arkansas where our elephants were retired to as well as "Anna May's" grave site.

Rebecca,
I'm sorry we ran away with the circus but we'll be back in the fall. Keep them busy while we are on the road. What? We aren't going? Oh you got to be kidding me. I can't get up and go to work tomorrow. OK then, we had a ball while it lasted. More tomorrow.
