I remember like it was yesterday when Clyde Beatty played Detroit & Cleveland, the wooden tunnels in the back hallways, and out to the center ring. I also remember watching the crew strike his arena, they had to lay each piece down and it took 4 men to carry them.
Yes, I think more than one of us miss Rebecca. She definitely enjoyed her work, knows your family well, and contributed a lot of enjoyment to us all.

Buckles, I just remembered something my relatives used to say. " Lets throw our hat in the door. If she throws it back we won't go in." The GISTOPO was my name back then. This was from my x inlaws. I have gone through anger management since that time. Was a waste of good money.
You're dammed right Rebecca! Some times, most often times, it's best to blow your stack.
Nothing like saying what you think Rebecca. I have more respect for people I do not necessarily agree with but who are honest with me than I do people who just tell me what they think I want to hear!

Buckles,
Among your odities photographs, I know no elephant photo could be odd, do you have a photo of the J.E. Henry Show band (all six players) riding on an elephant? It is on the back cover of the current, Feb. 20, 2006 "Circus Fanfare" of the Windjammers. How unique. Not printed well enough to copy and send you for the Blog.

Yes I do, in fact I have a picture of "Gyp" with the Great Patterson Shows (a carnival) carrying 10 musicians prior to her J.E. Henry days and leading her is a young Cheerful Gardner, the earliest picture I have of him.
I TOLD you that you'd be back Dutchess!!! We are all better for it! Gary

I hope you all know you made me cry. The tornado got me more then I knew. Emotions hit me all at once. If you think I am going to be a woosy forget it. What you read is what you get. Its just a good thing I love the circus and talking about it. You are all great. Right now it is a ZOO around here. Lumber everywhere.
Buckles: I didn't see Beatty until 1943 when he was still using these four cage trucks but Gordon Potter said that on the 1934 Hagenbeck-Wallace, Beatty's 27 cats were carried in nine Cap Curtis cages. Also that on the 1936 Cole show he had 30 cats in ten cage wagons, on 1937 Cole he carried 31 cats in ten cages. and in 1938 still on Cole he had 32 cats in ten cages. These Cole cages were: nine from Christy (Tom Tucker built) and one from Robbins Bros/Hall Farm Best regards, Dave
