Bell Bros. Circus 1946 #2

I like this picture of the canvas truck pulling the stake driver which is in a prone position. Since there was no canvas spool the big top had to be unlaced and rolled into bundles. When loading, a block and tackle is attatched to the beam extending over the rear of the truck then each bundle is pulled up, slid forward and dropped in the front of the truck. When unloading you could simply roll them out the back of the truck by hand as the truck moved along.
What will these circus people think of next?

Thats the same way the Mills show did it, only the canvas wagon was a semi (120 ft top with three middles).
