Althoff Elephants #2

These pictures are dated 1934 and the caption is "Althoff's Elephants, First Appearance in England". Any Elephant Empress will tell you that making mounts in high heels is difficult at best and the maintenance on these diaphanous gowns and headpieces would be continous.

I was wearing heels with the new beaded costume when Margret poop on me. One and only time. Really thought I looked the Empress. Nothing like getting pooped on to put you in your place. Karen, I have the book about Eloise when she was killed. It is in French. Nice pictures thou. Heard the one written about Maple is an out and out lie. Writen by a want to be that Mable hated and probable would not have spoken ten words to.

Robert Hough called me from Toronto when I was in Houston, saying he was writing a book on Mabel, and was referred to me as her last apprentice. I understood the book to be a biography, and gave him hours of interviews both on the phone, and when he flew down to Houston. I am the Roger Haines character in this book, and remain angry and disgusted to be connected with the distortion Hough has wrought. He betrayed the trust of all he interviewed. We may ask ourselves--what sort of man writes pornography, then uses his dedication page to name his wife and children.
You might realize I have plenty more to say, but perhaps for another time.
I haven't had the fan magazines for awhile, so Giovanni, please advise which issues these comments were in, and I'll order them.
For Karen Glenn: Mabel's autobiography, written with Gertrude Orr, was HOLD THAT TIGER, from Caxton Printers, Caldwell, Idaho, in 1938, and reprinted in 1946.
The time seems right to allow that Mabel's family has asked me to write her biography as it should be written. It promises to be quite a project, and I'm giving it very serious thought.

That middle elephant is about to leave a present. Hope no one drags her skirt or walks in it. It never comes out in the wash.
