Did they really use ladders to get on the elephants? I was thinking they could have used to elephant ride platform for this, but did they have elephant rides back then?

I don't believe RBBB had elephant rides in those days.

It all depends on the elephant, the person and the costume. Whatever it takes to get her up there.

These are some exelent drawings by Bill - A multi tallented man. He " saw life " as a visual artist should with a KEEN EYE - it's nice to see his work in such a way.

For those who didn't know, our "Brad", Charlton Heston, is also an artist. He did endless sketches of the circus and personnel during the DeMille filming. One photo has Antoinette Concello posing for him.
As a footnote, Mr. Heston announced almost three years ago that he was diagnosed with Alzheimer's. All we know out here is that periodically some spokesman for the family will say Mr. Heston is resting comfortably at his Coldwater Canyon home.
