While the park was under re-construction we cobbled up a ring for a place to practice and with nothing else to do, put a six-act together. This gave me two pyramids, two one-foot stands and three merry-go-rounds but I made a mistake of adding "head and tail" waltzes like liberty horses, which was easy to train but twice as difficult to un-train when it was returned to a five-act.
You will notice the infamous "Clarence" wandering around at left, I always liked to have dogs in and around the herd. My mother often had a Chihuahua which she might carry around in a little hand bag, when we visited the Ringling Show in 1948 and were passing in front of the elephants in the menagerie we were cautioned several times to keep the dog back at all cost. I had one dog that would back the elephants up so he could share their grain.

Yes David did, as well as many others. Little did I suspect at the time that 30 years later this would become an almost impossible accomplishment.
Upon seeing this photo my eyes went right to " Clarence ". As Buckles has previously mentioned it's fasinating what impresses one and what makes a memorable impression. Clarence did that boldly to me. It seams to me he had such charactor and dignity and was proud to be Buckles Elephant Barn's Mascot. He once posed like a professional for me for a fine portrate, with Buckles aproaching in the background thinking; " What the hell's goen on here " !
Who are the six in this act?
Hi Darryl,
The six are Minyak, Mala, Barbara, Josky, Sophie and Major.
Hey Daryl:
Little John here, you may remember me from Circus World. I think we are neighbors, I still live in Haines City, but I don’t know exactly were you are. I’m usually off on Mondays, and I’d be honored to help you out by mucking out your barns and cages or whatever. Pk2Circus@aol.com
lj, They just don't make um like you any more. Wish you lived closer to me. It would surprise you that most people can not handle cleaning and careing for animals. Even dogs. Maybe not. That is the only real problem I have year after year. Finding someone to do spring cleaning and repairs no matter the pay. At 64 I just can not do it by myself anymore. Even playing like this is a circus {which I have done for years to make it } doesn't get the work done. like it used to. Where are the good rostabouts when you need them?
Did you ever find out who the white shoes belonged to?
Thanks, thought that might be the Minyak group, but wasn;t sure on the male.
