Hagenbeck-Wallace Circus 1909

Ben Wallace never carried more than 5 or 6 elephants with the Great Wallace Show, this string of young elephants came with the purchase of the Carl Hagenbeck Circus in the fall of 1906. At the time this picture was taken Percy Phillips was in charge of the herd. Unfortunately most of these elephants were lost in the 1913 winter quarters flood in Peru, Ind.
