This photo reminds me of the line they used for Opal's one-foot stand on the Polack show.
"Watch closely, you may never see the likes of this again."
I notice that Barbara does not use a strap when mounted on the elephants. SOOOO graceful. Other people are using a strap to hold on to and are not standing up straight. I remember Buckles saying that in marrying Barbara the act had someone to do the mounts. The Gods were looking down on the Woodcock elephants and blessed them with this fantasic woman.
All these photos bring back those memories so intensely ; thanks Buckles - Its difficult to accept
the fact that you retired - this
blogsight is so intense its like the real thing still.
You have to admit Buckles and Barbara would be a very hard act to follow. The kids would always be compared to them. They are just too special. Thats why we all respect them for their wonderful part in the circus as we knew it. We have to face it that it is a very hard life keeping elephants. A 24 hour, 7 days a week with no let up. Buckles had very little free time and that is how he wanted it. No one else had that commentment and love for the circus. I think.
Actually it wasn't a hard decision at all. Somehow an enclave, populated 90 per cent by women, has managed to almost turn elephant training into a criminal activity.
I'm sure like all cycles, sanity will one day return but for the immediate future having an investment in buying elephants, trucks, living accomodations, etc. when the Government can Legislate you out of busines at a moments notice is not a smart move.
Just yesterday I got lawyered out of $1,700.00 because I missed a court date that I did not even know I had. To quick claim a deed to property I do not even own. Now is this our great legal system or what? Madison County is the armpit of the legal system anyway. The lawyer was a female as was her client. They are both ugly as sin, so I don't feel too bad. Now this is the way to lose weight Gary. No grocery money
