It isn't taking Dickie G. long to get rolling with the Beatty title. Will be interesting to see what happens next.
According to the Ticketmaster website, the show is playing Joel Arena in Winston-Salem Jan. 20-22 (Friday, Saturday, Sunday).
This is the only "Clyde Beatty" date that comes up when you search Ticketmaster.
Do they even have a cage act?
I think you've got to have a cage act if you're making any effort at all to try to pretend the show is tied historically to CB. DG had a cage act on his Sterling & Reid show didn't he? I think Brian Frazen had cats on that show for at least one season.
Clyde Beatty's lions should have done shampoo ads. Nothing to do with circus, but there's a short video clip on the elephant Mutware who has been attacking cars in the national park in Rwanda recently. See BBC News main page, click on Science/Nature, and scan that page for the elephant pic and the story "War Survivor ..." by Robert Walker. Mutware's keeper has recruited local children to act as companions. Typical of African park elephant interactions (ones that get photographed), very hands on, up close, wandering loose, beautiful. I wonder if, with all those wide open spaces, Mutware is looking for more human contact, not less.
Lotliza
If they put on a lousy show, cheat the public, leave a mess, that makes it hard for the honest small named circus to get bookings. I know for a fact this has happened before.
