Calliopes #4


This is a great instrument with the horn and violin carvings on the side.
Alas, nothing written on the back and hopefully someone will come to my aid.
From the setting and the people included in the shot it must date way back.

Steve Flint pointed out to me that the Dick Conover book has this calliope listed as being built fot the John Robinson Show in 1903 and remaining thru 1906.

Dan Draper says that it was on the barnum and bailey circus prior to 1918.

Hi again, in case your unable to figure out what picture we are refering to..it is the horn caliope from early november. My dad and I are really enjoying your website. I get on it daily to see what the latest pictures are, and since he doesn't have a computer at home he looks at mine while they are visiting. Have a happy holiday.
