During the winter of 1949-50 Stevens even took advantage of the painter Al Hille who did such a great job for the Kelly-Miller Show. This was his ticket office when they wintered at the Fairgrounds in Hugo. He eventually bought a place down in the Texas Valley so he could pretty much continue to show all thru the winter. On more than one occasion in the early 1960's my wife and I would load up the elephants and head South in early January and join his show expecting to make the feed bill and little more until winter dates began. By this time he would use various titles, one of which was Birnum Bros. and in the office someone had put up a picture of P.T. Barnum and beneath had written "Our founder!".
