Great Floto Shows 1905/ Christian Zeitz

The elephant at left was the Floto Show's first elephant "Mama Mary" imported from the Hagenbeck Zoo in 1903, for some reason she was always referred to as "Mom". The writer Courtney Riley Cooper made an issue of the fact that she only understood German.
The five young elephants had been added the previous year and pictured with them is their original trainer just hired from Ringling Bros., Chris Zeitz. Who would imagine the excitement the adorable little fellows would eventually create.
"Mom", "Trilby", "Floto", "Alice", "Freida" and "Snyder".

I neglected to mention that the Otto Floto Dog & Pony Show had elephants in 1902. They hired the Samuel Lockhart elephant act "Haddie", Wilhelmina", "Trilby" and "Tom Tom".
"Mom" was the first elephant Tammen and Bonfils owned.

I can't remember the name of the book. But when I was a kid, the first circus book I read was about Alice and Snyder. Amazing to see their pictures here. And speaking of names that appeared in the circus books I read as a kid, could you please some time show some pictures and tell us abut Walter McLain. Thank you. ToddP

I wonder if this circus elephant "Trilby" is the same one purchased by the "Mighty Haag Show" in the early 1900's. My daughter is doing her social studies project on this Circus.

Anyone know?
Thanks!
