Orton Bros. Circus 1916/ "Hero" and "Juno" on parade


Surprisingly I don't know who these elephant men are however I'm sure the man on "Hero" came from Hall's place with him. Seems like I recall my mother mentioning the name "Curly Pritchett".

I know it isn't, but the man reminds me of John Carrol from Kelly Miller.

I think perhaps the elephant handler might be Henry Newton
who also handled Hero on the Lucky Bill show.
Reportly that was him who Hero swatted away that day in May
in Elkton South Dakota that led to the big chase.
Reportly he was drunk too.
(the handler not the elephant).
