What type of animal is in this picture? Are there camera tricks being used in this photograph? Do you know anything about training animals?

This is a real quiz for you Buckles This trainer reminds me of Gomer Pyle.

Who is the trainer? Who is Gomer Pyle?

This guy is a very good trainer and has ton of experience. It's one of the more difficutly acts to train a African Lion, you can tell this guy has been training Lions for years with his smooth technique and angle of his hands and legs. If the RBBB had this guy back there Cat show would be selling out.

I should have said he looks like Gomer Pile. Mayberry RFD, Andy Griffth Show. A singing voice to die for. For the life of me I can not think of his real name.

Larry, how can you tell this guy has smooth technique from a picture? I am not trainer or a professional but you can't tell technique from a picture!

JIM NEIGHBORS!!!! Knew it would come to me.

I have 30 years in the business. I have a keen eye for talent, smoothness, and skill. Shame on you for being ignorant, it's very difficult to domesticate African Lions. I onced owned 4 and had another in my apartment for 9 months. I am well aware of the technique and nuances of animal training. I am a professional former performer.

Well done Rebecca, that is in fact Jim Neighbors. I spent 5 years with him on the RBBB back in 1968. Notice the slight angle of his neck while the African lion is above his abodomen. That is called technique and only a trained eye could pick that up.

Larry I am also a former trainer and agree with you. A pro can always spot a pro. Its called style and class. It just shows. There are not enough around anymore to compare.

Rebecca,

What circus did you perform in? What animals did you train?

Larry and Rebecca,

How can you see any technique or style in a picture? Please explain and elaborate on this STYLE/TECHNIQUE, this man is lying on his back as a LION steps over him, there's no technique in that?

JOhnny,

There's tons of technique and style during that act. It takes a professional eye to see it. You don't see the countless hours Jim Neighbors spends with the African Lion all the hours behind the scenes. Jim doesn't just walk into the cage and is able to have the Lion perform all these tricks and the snap of a fingers.

What type of Lion is that? Is that really an African Lion?

Jim Nabors was one of the best acts that the Ringling Bros had on their show before they combined with the Feld Brothers in 1916

Jim Nabors was an amature at best. His best days were at Jim Cole while working as free hand. He wasn't a great animal trainer and didn't have the style and grace of the better trainers of the day like Clyde Beatty.

What space ship did you come on.? Beatty could not potty train a child let alone an animal. Some how my comments contain something to do with poop. I own a kennel and am cleaning the stuff up constantly. I am not full of it just in case someone was going to say that.
