On the subject of clowns a few days ago I sent out a picture of a Barnum & Bailey tableaux "Funny Folks" dated 1900. Stewart Thayer has since informed me that the date should be 1904 and was among a number of parade vehicles Mr. Bailey had built to announce that show's triumphal return from Europe.
