On the subject of clowns a few days ago I sent out a picture of a Barnum & Bailey tableaux "Funny Folks" dated 1900. Stewart Thayer has since informed me that the date should be 1904 and was among a number of parade vehicles Mr. Bailey had built to announce that show's triumphal return from Europe. "Funny Folks" itself depicted various popular cartoon characters of the day such as "Foxy Grandpa", "Happy Hooligan" and "Buster Brown". Buckles
