I was rummaging around Venice Quarters and came up with these rag headpieces. My wife patched them up! "Hugo", "Zina", "Gilda" "Carmen" and "Peggy" All Chipperfield elephants except the male "Hugo" who was donated from a Park. Despite his size he trained easily.

"Kernaudi" and her hind leg walk, almost as remarkable was the Prop Crew charging in and out with the ramps. She was still in the herd years later when I took over after the train wreck.

There was a time when "Manege" was an Equine Production but with the advent of Rubber Ring Mats and insecure footing it became the Elephant Display. This one was called "The Polka Dot Polka".

Looks pretty sparse here, the overhead tents were used in a Comedy Number                                 whereas the Fliers would come out dressed in 1920's bathing suits and dive into a net.

I have heard it said there were good years and bad years bur every year it's the "Greatest Show On Earth!"

The Show folded so abruptly in 1956 that for the next few seasons they played wherever they could until indoor arrangements were available.
