#18 Circus World

I was rummaging around Venice Quarters and came up with these rag headpieces.
My wife patched them up!
"Hugo", "Zina", "Gilda"
"Carmen" and "Peggy"
All Chipperfield elephants except the male "Hugo" who was donated from a Park.
Despite his size he trained easily.

When I loaded Hugo and George into the Ringling Concession trailer at World of Animals in Mesquite, they didn't make it 2 miles down the road before Hugo busted the side door open. We had to haul some chain and wrap around the door to keep it shut. I went inside and shortened his chains so he couldn't reach the door again. I told the truck driver to just put a water hose in when he needed to water and they would drink straight from it. Told him to DO NOT go in with them until he had one of the Shows elephant men to unload him..this time they didn't make it out of Mesquite. He drove to the Truck Stop in Mesquite and went in and Hugo nailed him. He was at the Jacksonville Zoo just before he came to Circus World.

Hugo remained in his martingale for the entire time I worked there, and I received strict orders to keep a wide berth. (NO PROBLEM!!) I recall Scott's cousin (or nephew?) Rusty walking down the front of the barn. I was at the front corner where all hands seemed to congregate. I saw Rusty walk down the line, & looked away for a SECOND, then looked back up. NO RUSTY. After a second or two, Rusty looks over the front rail of the barn from the ground! Hugo had flipped him over, THAT FAST!
