The man's wife called Ravensbeard Wildlife Center in Saugerties

upstate New York in Ulster County and brought the Saw Whet owl

who has since been named "Rockefeller" (obviously) to the sanctuary

With all the bad news of 2020 this tiny owl's rescue

is a current story that happily needs to be celebrated

Plucky little Rockefeller the owl has lit up this year's

Christmas tree with some positive publicity

Audubon recently sent out a link to this critter's call. Today, it sounds like the backup beeps of construction equipment, but in earlier times, their call sounded like a whet-stone being applied to a logger's saw. Hence the name, Saw Whet.
