The Kaziranga National Park is a Unesco Heritage Site

Most recently the state was hit by flooding in July

Officials said at least 51 animals in the park died

"Animals suffer greatly during the flood season in the park

Many animals die and some elephants even get washed away"

Dr Sarma who helps officials with animal rescue efforts says

"It's all too common for baby elephants to get separated from

their mothers and as such they need extra care and support

so that is why I help out during the floods"

This Animal Corridor is reminiscent of the film ELEPHANT WALK (MGM, 1954). The cruel planter built his mansion across the path elephants needed to find water. I won't spoil the movie for you, but it's a keeper, with Elizabeth Taylor, Peter Finch, and Dana Andrews.

There are films on the net of the elephants who died in these floods. They are sadly graphic, so be prepared.
