I was never a fan of white tights
Place me in the loyal opposition. To me, it takes white tights to make a flying act.
Under the Big Tops, whether afternoon or night, circus lighting did not compare to that of a movie set. I'm a flying act fan, so forgive me if I rhapsodize, but white tights provided the flyers with an ethereal, angelic impression audiences took home with them.

All too confusing
You are absolutely right about
the visibility of white Roger
As a lifelong cat act guy, I've studied photos of them all. In long shots of the entire cage, if trainers are wearing colors, it's often hard to find them among the animals. In a few such photos, Terrell Jacobs is wearing dark or khaki-colors, and he all but disappears. This is never the case with the wizened showmanship of Clyde Beatty. In pictures of his biggest acts, under adequate lighting or no, your eyes are drawn at once to him in his tropical whites.
