Jackie Gleason was a multi talented

entertainer who wrote film scripts

as well as composing their scores

He produced his television shows

He wrote both the story & composed

the music for & starred in "Gigot"

He also designed elaborate scenery

The shop I apprenticed in built

some components for his projects

I knew one of his co-producers, a lady known as "Anna", who retired of all places in Waco, Texas. She told me it all really came to an end when Gleason's last seasons, in Miami Beach, were cancelled. She called him her "Big Goom-bah", and said after this, he felt he had little else to live for.

My favorite of his compositions is "Melancholy Serenade". He was nominated for Best Supporting Actor as Minnesota Fats, in THE HUSTLER.
