Jules Jacot

Jules Jacot had the longest active career as a trainer that I've traced. He started at 20, and was working when he died at 81--a 61-year run, compared to many others at 40+ years, and Mabel Stark's 57 years. If I'm on the money, Mr. Jacot wins for longevity in the cage.

In this shot, Jacot is working at the St. Louis Zoo. As the truly knowledgeable said of him, "The Old Man was death on tricks."
