Some of these are damn heavy

wagons riding on wooden wheels

Must have been very rough rides

Also noted is these wheels on city streets, when their steel-rimmed narrow gauge beneath immense weight could have wrought major damage to the pavement. Purists, however, are grateful to see the wheels as historical accuracy.

And were these ornate wagons also used to haul stuff? Making them even heavier?

I wonder how much pavement there was 110 years ago..even 'good' roads were just gravel, and most were dirt.
