The renowned Circus Model Builder Robert Hayden ran the generators for this show when he was stationed somewhere in Europe for the US Air Force. On his leave days, he became a reliable asset to this show family. I knew him much later, when he was Foreman at Jungleland, in Thousand Oaks, California. We called him "Doc", and it was he who assigned me my first string of cages to care for, but Doc also gave me the most important advice I could hear. He told me to respect the Compound mainstay, Benny Bennett. He said if "Uncle Ben" took interest in me, I'd be made on the lot, and he was right. Whenever I see this show title, I think back in gratitude for Doc Hayden. Veteran model builders know he built his rendition of the entire Hagenbeck-Wallace Circus that fellow CMBs traveled miles to see.
