Fay Wray became indelible for the original KING KONG, and as TONY recalls, Ms. Lange hit it big for this one. Johnny Weissmuller and (especially) Maureen O'Sullivan shone working with the Cheetah chimps. Ronald Reagan got laughed at, but wasn't hurt by that Bonzo picture. Terry Moore did well co-starring with MIGHTY JOE YOUNG, along with Ben Johnson, who much later won Best Supporting Actor for THE LAST PICTURE SHOW. So one guy got an Oscar and one guy got the White House, proving sharing the screen with great apes can be very helpful.

The tragic demise of legendary KING KONG lays squarely upon the hands of CHIC SILBER.
I didn't kill him Roger
I only assembled the 5
sections that came from
California to this site
beneath the World Trade
Towers back in 1976
I spent most of a month
working on the effects
Film wasn't succesful
I thought that King Kong was pretty good. It also introduced the world to Jessica Lange.
This BIG guy (40' tall) was created
by a family of Italian craftsmen in
Southern California & was incredibly
authenic in every way except for his
lack of lower plumbing components
It was brought to NY in 5 segments
that we carefully assembled
Another upper torso & only
1 arm which was mechanized
was filmed in the studio
