We all understand circus artwork seldom adheres to reality. If you see the Mabel documentary, I'm rather graphic in describing her injuries. She could never have worked with her legs exposed as suggested above. Most of her muscle tissue was torn away during the attack by two tigers, Zoo and Sheik, in Bangor, Maine, in '28. Six weeks later, she returned to work the full act. She made herself walk the rest of her life only by concentrated determination.
