I would call this girl Madison

for the Avenue from where she

was produced as advertising art

Madison is dearly reminiscent of images given us by Alberto Vargas. Some of us remember his indelible beauties, especially during WW II, which routinely emblazoned our combat aircraft, and even were found on bomber jackets. A native of Peru, Vargas became on institution at ESQUIRE Magazine, until they refused to share ad revenues featuring his work. Hugh Hefner then set him up for a 16-year career with PLAYBOY, in the era when his artistry was suggestive but never pornographic. Writer Kurt Vonnegut said that to this day, Vargas's work "retains an imperishable freshness." Kind of like our Madison up there.
