Leaps have long been a staple of circuses, and lend major excitement and flash to any show. One troupe performed theirs over 9 elephants--I may be recalling the Slayman-Ali guys.

Wish I could have seen that...The Cristiani Family did the leaps featuring Tripoli Cristiani going over five elephants (most I ever saw). Red Dingler, aerial bar act and trampoline was well over 6 ft. tall and he did the leaps with the Cristiani's. It was quite a contrast to see him against the much smaller Cristianis'. But as you said, it was a very exciting act. Many years later, the Canestrelli family had the leaps on Ringling with Marco dressed as Superman...But that is another story.
