Eartha Kitt. This would have been about the time she was starring in TIMBUKTU!, a reworking of the musical KISMET but with an all-black cast. (She played the Vizier’s wife.) I had the chance to play for this show when it appeared in San Diego in November of 1978. Somewhere, I have a photo that Eartha autographed for me. An interesting lady!

After the multi gazzlion dollar

remodeling of this Garden #4

this Rotunda area doesn't exist

"Timbuktu" was playing at

the Mark Hellinger on 51st

Street which was leased &

ultimately sold to become

"The Times Square Church"

Several attempts to buy it

back to resume it's former

status of Broadway theater

have all failed

Back around the dressing rooms, recording studios, and film sets, some very intriguing stories were told involving Miss Kitt.

I still have some of her 45 rpm records--"Santa Baby", "Under the Bridges of Paris", etc.
