Here again is the arrow the Beatty show used in 1964. Eddie Firlein was using the 1980s design, and when I described this one to him, he went into his truck and came back with one of each for me as souvenirs.
In 1980 and '81, I drove 86, the Boss's Sleeper, which with 85, doubled with banners of our attractions. Each wagon had a specific spot on the Front End, and Eddie had them designated with stakes. He taught me to read the lot as I came in and to make a straight shot for my marks, as on soft lots, one chance to get there was all there would be. As I got in, I'd stop on pavement and find Eddie's stake plot. Then I'd put it in Grandma and go right in. 86 also anchored the King Pole of the Big Top, so spotting the truck had to be correct the first time.

With my apologies & deepest respect
for the song writer Stephen Foster
"Gone are the days when my heart was young and gay"
"Gone are my friends from the circus fields away"
I am grateful for my memories
This was the arrow to follow
Eddie Firlein who came with
Dave Hoover after Beatty died
became 24 hour man for several
years & then musician Bob Gray
took it on for quite a while
Together they must have taped
& stapled thousands of these
