I trouped with them for 2 seasons on Castle, '72 & '73. The act then worked an Arabian theme, and their entrance music was the dramatic theme from LAWRENCE OF ARABIA. This act was so strong, it was our closer. Earlier in the show, Dennis and Roger did a riotous comedy turn with the horse Wendy, titled "Herman and Petunia".

The Joe Zoppe Indian-themed act had a special music score prepared by Bill Pruyn which included a lot of "Indian" music by the likes of Karl King, Victor Herbert and even John Philip Sousa. This act appeared at the Columbus, Ohio Shrine Circus in 1967, the very first time I ever played for a circus performance. I can still remember the announcement that opened this act: "From the Painted Desert of the Southwest, we offer a firey display of horsemanship, presented by Joe Zoppe and his troupe of Indian Bare Back Riders!"

Joe and Peggy visited my sister, Peggy, and I just before we left Texas for the last time in2008. Had some good jack-pots. Joe called me after Peggy's death. Good friends.
