#1 Hugo Schmitt

Hagenbeck Zoo in Germany.
I was fascinated by his WW2 stories about having to take the elephants under a nearby bridge during the Allied Air Raids.
Likewise with Albert Rix who was captured and spent time in a Russian Concentration Camp and while others starved, managed to survive by selecting the insects he had seen the bears prefer while he was at the Zoo.
So much so, he was sometimes accused of collusion by other inmates.
He added that one morning they awoke to discover the Guards gone and shortly after, British Troops entering the gates.
