How The Mighty Have Fallen!

.....my wife has some people coming today to see about removing our shower and installing one with a seat so I don't slip and fall down.
I wonder if a drool cup will be included?

Our daughter Karen graduated from Missouri State with degree in Biology and Sports Medicine thanks ($)to loving parents. She's a Board Certified Athletic Trainer. I figured for my contribution I'd get some professional advice about an occasional ache or pain. Her usual diagnosis and cure is either, "don't do that anymore" or "you're old". When I mentioned it to our family doctor he simply said she's right. You're not alone.

We installed a walk-in shower for hen we reach those days we need one. Just had a hip replacement and now is the time. Remember, Buckles, as a 98 year old friend told me, growing older beats the alternative.

"Falls Prevention" is a whole

renewed hot topic in all the

realms of both geriatric care

& all healthcare facilities

worldwide The statistics are

the major reason for this

increase in awareness

Just last week we spent a

few hours in a local hospital

emergency department as my

dear wife took a spill in

our neighbor's driveway &

dislocated a finger

Delia (80) and I (almost 82) had a new walk in shower installed in 2012. It has a lot of grab irons and a seat. Very nice. Our son Michael insisted on it.

I have wanted a walk in-sit down shower for quite a few years now since I started with back and neck problems. I never looked at it as a geriatric problem but a physical one. After all the surgery I have had I would hate to slip and get hurt again. I would rather be safe than sorry. I think it is a great invention. Buckles, you will love it and so will you Munzie. Then again you do have the most beautiful bath arrangement. Great idea! Love you guys

I see you still have your sense of humor! A drool cup. I doubt you are in need of that yet.
I have thoroughly enjoyed all of today's photos. There is so much history going on in this blog. Thank you so much for sharing.

Right now it's a distant consideration for me, but I have already taken one bad fall in the "salle de bain". My dear Mother always told me, "Better to be a live chicken than a dead duck."

DARLENE: My sympathies are shared with you. After my theatre fall, I had 6 bone surgeries. In my standard shower, I placed a shower chair, and still had a slight slip or two and a near-fall. It made me recall the shower-stall injury suffered by astronaut John Glenn. The same type fall led to the death of our steel arena friend, Chet Juszyk. You guys with your sit-down showers are examples we should follow. The last thing folks like us need is to break something else.
