The wagon was used in a Brewery Act where either a horse, or a horse and rider would jump through the barrels. There are smaller platforms loaded in the brewery barrels in this photo which may have been used in the Statue acts. Unlike modern statue acts which have just people, early statue acts on field shows used horses also and had to have heavy duty tubs to hold all the weight. Ringling Bros presented "Schuman's German Horse Circus" which had these same type of brewery wagons. Guernsey's sold in 2010 a 1910c Ringling Bros. one sheet upright of the "Schuman's German Horse Circus" with this act on the left side of the litho. p.j.
