I must admit the only

hazardous duty I saw

was on "Liberty" nights

in Baltimore (nuf said)

When I joined the Coast Guard

it was the only armed force

not under the Defense Dept

Back then it was a component

of the Treasury Dept as it

always had been since 1790

Later on it became a part

of Dept of Transportation

& in 03 it was folded into

Homeland Security

Back in the 60s the entire

USCG was the size of the

New York City police dept

"Semper Paratus"
