There They Go!

When my father worked the Terrell Jacobs elephants in Canada with the Conklin Shows he would march them down town at each date followed by a truck carrying a bull tub and some props. After doing a few tricks he would climb up on the tub and extol the virtues of the Carnival and the Lion King in particular. On one occasion after concluding he turned around and the elephants were gone. As they say, "She took it on the Duffy" or to quote Bobby Gibbs, "It doesn't qualify as a runaway so long as they stay in sight."
