Chic, that position only made my back & legs stronger. It was the accident at CIRCUS WORLD that cased all the pain. It fractured the bottom vertebrae, and ruptured the 5th 6th disc. They removed one half of the disc, leaving the other half with a small sliver of bone in it. This small piece of bone did a terrible amount of damage to many parts of my body, in the two years on tour of doing my act that was so strenuous. The accident happened because the lights went out, due to a storm. That was no problem, for everyone was instructed if there was a problem, to stay away from the elephants. BUT there was one person that DID NOT LISTEN. He came running up to us with a BLACK LIGHT. The elephant had seen the BLACK LIGHT before. But it was always in one place, never moved. This light was moving, fast. It scared him and he jerked away from it. I did not fall off the elephant. But I fell to a sitting position, and hit a little board we had on the howdah to reinforce it. ( Even though we had a very thick padding on the underside, of the howdah. We put the reinforcement on the top. ) So that takes care of my medical history..........Barbara.........

Holding that straight leg pose
for all those many track runs
surely has taken it's toll on
Lady Barbara's hips & back as
she sadly has had to suffer
