Clyde Beatty #5

An odd picture.
My father once told me that Ms Beatty was highly inaccurate with the whip and often he and "Anna May" came out of the act worse from wear than the cats.

Notice the old wooden up-and-down chute coming from the barn to the animal gate on the arena. As ID'd here previously (meaning over the years), the tigress is Primba, and the lion has the unimaginative name of Simba. He slowly went blind, and was retired. For the duration of this riding act, Simba was not replaced, and Primba co- starred alone with Anna May. The other elephant men we know of included Eddie Allen and Arky Scott. Maybe the whip was the reason they changed out leading Anna May.

There were replacements for Primba, however. The last was Singapore.
