The Henderson Trio Juggling and Balancing acts had opened with Bob Stevens in 1945. Mack asked Bob to ask Peggy if she would "dress" the new elephant act. Peggy agreed and the rest is history, as they say. She is still wearing our wardrobe (I had one just like it). She took right to it having been born in a tent, on the lot during The Henderson Comedy Company show in 1923. We all stayed together till the fall of 1949. Peggy was so quiet most others didn't know that she had been a performer since the day she was born. Dad literally went on stage and asked if there was a doctor in the house. There wasn't, but a nurse came forward to assist. This was reported in the local newspaper and Billboard. Billie
Thank you, BILLIE. Great history that I hadn't known. When I visited Peggy and the Pallenbergs in New Braunfels, I indeed noticed her quiet demeanor, as compared to the more demonstrative Hannah. All wonderful people, who loved our long evenings of jackpots. I last saw Peggy when we all visited the Plunkett show, in San Antonio, in 1990. She had her mother laying in the back of a van, turned around so she could see the show. Peggy told me her mother was 95 at the time. What a saintly soul Peggy was, who left fond memories with all who knew her.
Thanks from me too, Billie. Great to have the rest of the story.
Not that anybody gives a rat's patootie but I believe I was the last guy to post 3-sheet bills for a rep show- Bisbee's long after most were closed and the only existing- Dot & Jess Sun and Jimmy Davis' Shaffner were just using tack cards.
Thanks guys. Giving a "rat's patootie" says it all when it comes to rep show history. No jackpots for old-timers. You can find Lew Henderson Player.com on the web. It's not to good, but it's true. Billie
Billie- I remember the time you and Alice came with Peggy to the CHS in Baraboo- can you believe that's been nineteen years ago? Have we aged that much since then?

Nice gesture to list the Empress on the truck.

You know, the Rays and the Hendersons go way back on Repertory Shows, in fact two of my wife's sisters were named Peggy and Billie.
