I once asked a few people in the Feld Organization and it was a murky subject not discussed.

Depression was only 1 of the factors

It was a truly sad ending to great accomplishments

Chic,
Depression? I never heard that one before, and unless it came from Donna, I would suspect it. I shared a vestibule with him, kept my tigers in his elephant tent for 6 years and saw and spoke with him extensively each day. I shook his hand and spoke with him as he was leaving for the airport to go to Florida. Three people were there, two are dead and one who became a loyal "yes" man shortly after his employment is not, and will not ever speak.

Chic,
Yes, still in China. My email is wadeburck@yahoo.com If you should see dear Herta, give her a hug and a kiss for me. We have a lot of history. Anyone who know's John Cuneo and his unique way of saying/addressing something(Buckles has a classic about a naked women hugging him in Chicago) might appreciate my last conversation with him. He called me out of the blue a few years ago, when I was in Mexico. Out of the clear blue means no one else want's the job. :) After a few minutes of chit chat I asked "what's new with you, John." He replied, "Herta and I have gotten a divorce." I already knew that but I replied, "I am sorry to hear that, Herta is a wonderful women." John said, "yes, but sometimes she is unreasonable"(we know why she was unreasonable.) LOL He continued saying, "I also bought a small horse stable in Florida." I asked, "do you live there?" and John said, "No, I have an old German woman watching the place for me." Jokingly, I said "really, Herta is taking care of your horse's for you?" Without missing a beat, in classic John Cuneo he said, "oh no, not Herta. Another old German women!!!!!!! I would love for Herta to take care of the place for me, but she's very angry at me right now." The stories I have after so many, many years.........
