What A Decade! #3

.....on return, my first experience working the act accompanied by my father outside the ring shouting, "NO!...No!...No!...Buckles!..... don't let Lydia get away with that...Dammit!

On instructing someone to work the act: I trained several people to work the sea lions at the St. Louis Zoo. Most of them did well and I tried to be understanding and patient. The time would come when I would stand out in the audience and watch the act. I'd tried to be calm and encouraging but if I'd see an error I'd uncontrollably kind of "shiver". Of course the new trainer is watching for my behavior. One told me, "it's not bad when you know you made a mistake, it's when you see the "shiver" and you don't know why."

Lydia sort of went to the beat of her own tune didn't she buckles lol. I can remember so many times yelling NO at her for something she was into or doing that she knew she should have not been!
