Kelly had left RBB during the Garden date, refusing to cross the AGVA picket lines. He was not alone in this, but his name got the ink. Shortly thereafter, he was picked up by agent Leonard Green, who got Emmett's first big post-circus booking as the mascot for the then-Brooklyn Dodgers--"da Bums".
