I just happened to be around on

1 of the testing days & was asked

to be a test dummy for 4 hours

That's a long time to be zoomed

It got pretty monotonous on the

"Zoomerang"

This Coaster sits in a small amusement park near Auburn, Ind. Park has been closed for 6 or 7 years now.

It was not an interesting ride

There was a short straight run

on either side of the loop & it

was just a ride & repeat trip

I believe it was an "Aero" ride

I now recall it was an "Arrow"

(not Aero)

There were other rides at 1 point

"The Center Ring" by Enterprise

"Florida Huricane" wooden coaster

as well as "Zoomerang" by Arrow

& maybe more later on

Chic, you are correct. The Zoomerang was an Arrow Development ride. By what we're installing on today's ride systems, it had very simple (yet reliable) safety systems on it.

It was a pretty simple ride for the guest too. Our biggest operational issue was during the cold times here in Central Florida during the winter. It would make the wheel grease stiffen up. We also had voltage issues, as the part was literally at the end of the power line. When we'd launch the 200 Hp sled the lights at the Holiday Inn across the street would dim.

The Center Ring was a giant wheel

In Irvin's original dream of the

park he wanted a gigantic elephant

hotel at the entry & there were

early illustrations showing it

I recall the giant wheel loaded

in a flat position & was lifted

by hydraulics to vertical like

a Frank Hrubetz Paratrooper

When they Offically opened the Zoomarang. Buckles had Anna May pull a fake switch to start the ride, they shot off a lot of fireworks and Anna May wasn't real happy with them or the dang Emus that I was chasing through the crowd that jumped the fence when the fireworks when off..I had to carry 2 of them through the crowds back to the Petting Zoo..feet straight up in the air with their long necks and head up there too..It was a Wild Opening for sure..
