To Chic Silber

A good question....."Siam" was among the 20 baby elephants imported by RBBB the summer of 1954 and was probably among those riding in baby carriages in the "Mamas In The Park" number the following year.
Here she is 40 years later and still going strong.
I stopped keeping elephant records in 1996 and don't know her final disposition but I feel sure she finished her days in retirement at the FRHFOEAOEP in central Florida "The Feld Retirement Home For Old Elephants And Old Elephant People".

So this was the Blue following

the wreck near Lakeland I guess

Did you do both years of that

Did Patty return after a while

Those letters must make for an

interesting decorative sign

I wonder how they would look

wrapped around a globe

I was there the balance of 1994 and half of '95 until getting released due to good behavior.
I might add that I turned the herd over to young Chipperfield who did an excellent job.

Chic -

The light boxes on the floor that can be seen on what once was called the "back track" - are they your creation or fine tuning of another person's creation?

Slow day here at World Head Quarters so I am looking at circus photos.

Sorry Mike but nothing I see

in this photo gives me any idea

which way we are facing much

less any detail in those lights

That's a strange pattern on the

ring curb (at least there is 1)

Back in the days when we had 3

curbed rings the openings were

on the back track which is also

the entrance track so I'm not

sure whether Buckles is coming

or going (so to speak) but the

lights aren't likely to be mine

The last equipment I built for

them was in the 80s

Taking another look (blown up)

that ring curb appears to be

much taller than before likely

to aid stuffing the mesh arena

& those 6 segment track lights

might just be mine taken out of

the original hinged crates

I believe I took this photo (no excuses for poor color quality), but I can say, and of course Buckles can correct me, that this is the front track as that is where Diane and I almost without fail were seated.
Time oh time turn back in thy flight take me back to the good old days at least for a night.

You poem Paul reminds me of a

saying "Once A King Always A

King But Once A Knights Enough"

I bet a bag of floss that it is indeed the front track.

1. Photographer to the Stars, Paul Guthiel, always sat on the front track.

2. Enlarging the photo reveals that the ring to the left has an opening toward the back which would be next to the back track.

3. The high ring curb looks like a banked ring curb for Cossack riders. This would be center.

Obviously it is the Romeo and Juliet spec. The sign on the elephant blanket is an invitation to "the party". The name of the town is "New York City".

The signs were made for each individual city. I always wanted to ask Buckles if these signs ever got mixed up. Imagine inviting a New York City audience to a party in Duluth.

I'm sure that each custom sign was red-lighted after the date.

(Chic - did you notice I said red-lighted instead of 86'd?)

A gold star Mike but I'll bet

your flossbag that some usher

or butcher could have turned a

sawbuck for those signs

I can remember the ushers with

the hats or headbands that let

the little kiddied ride in spec

did very well along with their

"reseating" arrangements

Ushers in Omaha must have been honest. Never got dinged for my kids.

Lets see now we have a choice

1... Honest

2... Lazy

3... Stupid

4... Under surveillance

Pick 1 for a gold star
