I well recall the elephants with their tutus. I saw the show in
Atlanta on Tuesday afternoon October 20, 1942.

In the menagerie beforehand the elephant men were strapping them around the bellies of the bulls. This drew a big crowd and folks were laughing at the ridiculous sight. I specifically recall that at least some of the tutus were pink.

The one time in my life that I ever went to a ballet, I ran into an old teacher of mine. I mentioned Stravinsky and Balanchine and the RBBB elephant ballet. He looked at me as you would someone who mentioned that he had just spoken to Napoleon.
