I never realized that Salome was pronounced "Salo-may" until my first year in Baraboo when I was corrected Sally Ringling.
The final indignity came when my mother said to her, "You sure a little thing, I'll bet you were a top mounter in a teeter board act!"
Although my wife Tiki never saw
her she heard the many stories
I still have to correct her
when she mispronounces it
This photo had my 1st wife in
it whom I photoshopped out
For those who may recall that's
the Silver Sleeper on the left
originally from Big Bertha
Come on, Buckles, we're getting off topic here. This is about Chic and his tiger.
Although that was the correct
pronunciation of the Opera &
of several other ladies it was
not for this furry striped lass
Her name was "Sa LO Mee" hence
the confusion by many folks
Be careful Dave if we weren't
allowed to wander off topic we
surely would lose some of the
best remembered thoughts
Chic,
At what point did you finally realize that Salome was becoming a little too big to go around uncaged?
She was only on loan to me from
Dave Hoover who came up to the
Beatty opening in Commack with
all too many mouths to feed in
1 trailer so I was glad to be
a foster mom to Salome for 5
months until she was nearly 8
months old & returned her to
Dave in Buffalo that fall when
see was really too big to hide
She would have been around 11
when Cindy Potter came on the
show so she might remember her
(I think Cindy said 78 or so)
