Woodcock letter 9-17-45 from Tulsa, Okla. to Otto Scheiman

"Russell right ahead of us lately and doing no biz as show is well established in these parts as a truck show and when their 5 bulls march to the lot, everybody thinks it is the same old motorized troupe.
It is a swell show tho with a good performance, 5 bulls and about 30 horses, 7 flats, 6 coaches and 2 stocks.
Dailey has 3 stocks, 4 coaches and 8 flats."

5 bulls and 30 horses sounds about the Ringling Show today.

This was the year Arthur M Concello put the Russell show on rails as Russell Bros Pan Pacific Circus. The next year Beatty was over there and the title was changed to Clyde Beatty Circus, under which title it lasted eleven years on rails. In 1947 Art went back to RBBB and Beatty bought the show, losing it in bankruptcy in 1956.

As everyone knows the show acquired new owners, went on trucks, became Beatty-Cole and is today called Cole Bros.

Of course there have been many changes along the way. I wonder if they still have the old stake driver, said to be the oldest piece of equipment on the show.
